Happy Christmas everyone
As 2015 comes to an end, we’d like to send festive greetings to everyone who has played a part in our year.
This year we’ve been celebrating 30 years in business, a milestone of which we’re all immensely proud. As agency founder Frank Cullen has stepped away from the business, we acknowledge the contribution he made over many years to ensure that Cullen Communications has a future to match its illustrious past.
At the start of the year we made a commitment to mark our 30th anniversary by doing something different. So instead of champagne and cigars, we put our energy into supporting two worthy causes – Row A-Round Ireland, and Barretstown Camp.
Row A-Round Ireland is the brainchild of Ger Crowley, a friend of the Cullen family. Ger had the idea to rally together a team of 20 volunteers who would row around the island of Ireland to raise awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis. We provided PR support and publicity for the venture, which took around four months to complete.
The results were impressive. Having set themselves a target of €100,000, the team managed to exceed that and handed over a cheque for €110,000 to Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. On the publicity side, we managed to generate more than €600,000 worth of coverage for the project.
Our next CSR contribution involved closing down the office and donating a day of our time to Barretstown in Co. Kildare, the specially designed camp that provides ‘therapeutic recreation’ for children with serious illnesses.
Definitely one of the highlights of our year, we spent that day back in October gardening, painting, tidying, cleaning and performing various other odd jobs around the site. Nothing very glamorous but it’s safe to say that Barretstown made a lasting impression on everyone who took part.
We’re keen to maintain our association with the Paul Newman-founded charity, and to that end we’ve made another commitment – anyone who wishes to donate another day of their time to Barretstown in 2016 will be encouraged and facilitated to do so. Hopefully it will be the start of something special.
For now though, Christmas is almost upon us and we’re in wind-down mode. It’s been a busy year and for that we are incredibly grateful. We thank our clients for giving us the opportunity to produce great work. We thank our partners in PRGN for rewarding some of that work in the shape of two Awards for Excellence in 2016.
We say a fond farewell to our retiring Financial Controller, Connie Ross, who has been with the agency from the very beginning, way back in 1985 – happy retirement Connie!
And we wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy new year.
See you in 2016!
